I commend to you Phoebe, our sister... For indeed she has been a helper to many. Romans 16:1-20.
The story was told of a man who lived in a particular city. He was perceived by almost everybody in the town to be a bad person.
He later died and at his funeral, people came forward saying so many bad things which this man represented.
However, an elderly man in the crowd who didn't like to say any uncomplimentary word about any person stepped forward. At first, he was in a dilemma as to what to say about this man of whom many bad things had been said. In his dilemma regarding what to say, he looked at the man from head to toe and noticed that the man's mouth was opened thus revealing his teeth, he said, "What a beautiful set of teeth he has".
We must learn to compliment whenever there is need for such. We should learn to appreciate those who surround us.
We should learn how to compliment to spur others unto greater service and purposeful living.
We live by encouragement and die without it, slowly, sadly, angrily. -Celeste Holm
